Should I stop my other supplements when I start HGP?
We believe that eating nose to tail is going to support your nutritional needs without any additional support. The nutrients, vitamins, minerals, peptides, growth factors and other molecules found in all our supplements are in the exact bioidentical form that the human body uses. This leads to better absorption and utilisation within human physiology. We also ask you to check in with yourself and ask that question.

Animal-Based Eating Basics
Animal-based eating is a species-appropriate diet centred on whole animal foods: meat, fish, eggs, dairy, and organs. It prioritises nutrient-dense animal products while minimising processed foods, industrial seed oils, and plant defence chemicals. It’s not about restriction - it’s about returning to the foods humans evolved to thrive on.
Not quite. Carnivore is strictly animal products only (meat, organs, eggs, dairy). Animal-based eating is more flexible—it includes animal products as the foundation, with the occasional whole food plant addition like organic fruit or fermented vegetables. Both approaches avoid processed foods and prioritise clean, species-appropriate nutrition.
Many people find the opposite is true. When you remove processed foods and food noise, you discover how satisfying and flavourful whole foods are. Different cuts, organs, preparation methods, and seafood provide variety. Plus, cooking becomes a fun challenge rather than a chore. There’s freedom in simplicity.
Most people notice changes within two weeks: steadier energy, sharper focus, better digestion, and clearer thinking. Some experience results even faster. However, hormonal rebalancing and deeper metabolic shifts can take 6–12 weeks as your body adjusts to real fuel.
Organ Meats & Supplements
Organs are nature’s multivitamin. They’re packed with bioavailable nutrients your body recognises and uses immediately: vitamins, minerals, cofactors, and compounds that support energy, hormones, immunity, and longevity. Pound for pound, organs deliver more nutrition than muscle meat. That’s why ancestral peoples valued them so highly.
About 100g of raw liver per week (roughly the size of a deck of cards) is optimal. This isn’t about more, it’s about balance and supporting the body with what it actually needs. Organs are nutrient-dense, so a little goes a long way. Homegrown Primal products are designed to deliver this balance without overwhelm.
Both work. Whole organs are ideal if you enjoy eating them. Supplements offer convenience, consistency, and simplicity - especially for people with busy lives or who find sourcing quality organ meat challenging. Our products are dried, whole-food supplements with nothing added or taken away, designed to support your foundation when eating whole foods alone isn’t practical.
Yes. Reproductive organs, testicles, ovaries, uterine tissue, are uniquely nutrient-dense and specifically support the endocrine system, which governs hormones, fertility, libido, and that sense of aliveness we call vitality. They provide targeted ancestral nourishment that your body recognises. That’s why they feature in many traditional cultures and why we include them in our blends.
Insulin, Blood Sugar & Metabolism
Insulin is the gatekeeper of your energy. It decides whether you burn fuel or store it. When you’re insulin sensitive, your body works efficiently: energy is stable, hunger makes sense, weight balances naturally. When insulin resistance develops, everything feels harder: energy crashes, cravings spike, metabolism stalls. Supporting insulin sensitivity through food choices is one of the most powerful things you can do for your health.
Yes, in moderation. The occasional organic fruit is fine for most people, especially if you’re insulin sensitive and your digestion is stable. However, fruit contains carbs and natural sugars that can spike insulin in some people, so pay attention to how your body responds. The foundation should always be animal foods that keep blood sugar steady.
“Pure” is intentional. Pure food supports balance across your entire system - hormones, metabolism, nervous system, immunity. It means choosing foods that don’t stress your body, unsprayed when possible, and as close to nature as possible. "Clean" often just means low-calorie or "fat-free" which misses the point entirely. Purity is about supporting your biology.
Gut Health & Digestion
Yes. Most digestive issues (IBS, reflux, bloating, urgency) come from eating foods your gut never evolved to tolerate: processed foods, industrial seed oils, plant defence chemicals, and pesticide residues. When you switch to clean animal-based foods, you remove the irritant. Your gut lining can repair itself, and your microbiome stabilises. The body wants to heal - it just needs the right environment.
That’s not weakness or drama - your body is giving you feedback. Many plant foods contain defence chemicals (lectins, oxalates, phytates, FODMAPs) that irritate sensitive guts. If bloating, gas, cramps, or reflux follow vegetables, your digestion is telling you those foods don’t work for you right now. Listen to it. A gut reset often means less plant variety, not more.
Possibly, but they shouldn’t be your foundation. Supplements offer temporary support, but they won’t fix a diet that keeps irritating your gut. Think of them as scaffolding, not the building. Healing starts with food first - animal-based meals your body can digest cleanly, fermented foods if you tolerate them, then targeted support if needed. The food comes first.
Glyphosate-based herbicides are widely used on staple crops, and residues end up in everyday foods. Your gut lining is a sensitive ecosystem and constant exposure to chemical residues is a modern pressure your body never evolved to handle. One reason animal-based eating is protective: unsprayed, regeneratively raised animal foods avoid this problem. Your gut will thank you.
Vitality & Performance
Vitality is your life-force - the steady energy, strong mood, clear thinking, confidence, and resilience you experience when properly nourished. It’s the fire in your eyes, the strength in your stride, that grounded “I can handle life” feeling. It’s not just physical - it’s sexual energy, mental clarity, and that sense of being fully alive in your body. That’s what ancestral nutrition restores.
Often, yes. Hormonal rebalance is one of the most dramatic shifts people experience. Reproductive organs and animal fats directly support your endocrine system. When your body is properly nourished, hormone production stabilises, fertility markers improve, and libido returns naturally. This applies to both men and women. It’s not magic - it’s biology meeting the food it was designed for.
Absolutely. Animal protein supports muscle building and recovery. Animal fats provide stable energy without blood sugar crashes. The nutrient density means your body has everything it needs to perform, recover, and adapt. Many athletes thrive on animal-based diets because energy is steady, focus is sharp, and the body responds predictably. Performance improves when fuel matches your biology.
Lifestyle & Mindset
Because real health isn’t just food. It’s a whole-body experience. A nourished body downshifts more easily and a steady nervous system finds calm faster. When you fuel yourself properly, you have the foundation to rest, recover, and feel truly alive. That’s what we mean by Radical Humanism - as spectacular beings, you deserve to feel safe, connected, and at peace in your own body.
Normal isn’t a number, a goal weight, or a before-and-after photo. Normal is metabolic balance - your body using fuel efficiently, recovering deeply, moving freely, and feeling fully alive. It’s your body doing what it was designed to do, not battling against you. When properly nourished, your body finds the weight and shape that match your hormones and genetics naturally.
Your body will tell you. Look for: steadier energy, clearer thinking, better digestion, improved mood, deeper sleep, stronger immunity, and that sense of feeling grounded and alive. Performance improves, cravings fade, and hunger becomes normal instead of constant. If you’re feeling better across the board, physically, mentally, and emotionally, you’ve found something that works.
Ready to get started?
Start slowly and build up to a more meat-based diet to enable your body to adjust to increased fat content.
Our Blog is full of inspiration and helpful information - start here: THE CARNIVORE DIET & AND HOW TO GET STARTED
Keep it simple. Eggs to start the day, meat for lunch, fish for dinner. Add dairy if you tolerate it. Remove the biggest offenders first: seed oils, refined carbs, and processed foods. You don’t need to be perfect. Give it two weeks and notice how you feel. Energy, focus, digestion, and mood are good signals. From there, you can adjust.
Transition gently. Some people feel better fast; others need a few weeks for digestion, hormones, and energy to recalibrate. Start by adding more animal protein and fat, then gradually remove refined carbs and seed oils. Your body will set the pace. There’s no rush. Consistency over perfection always wins.
Flexibility is fine. One meal, one day, or even one week off doesn’t erase anything. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s consistency and nourishment. The most animal-based thing you can do is return to real food without drama, guilt, or punishment. Your body responds very quickly when you feed it what it needs.
Stay anchored in what works for you. Meat, fish, eggs, and dairy are on every menu. You don’t need to convince or convert anyone else. Often, the simplest approach is to quietly fill your plate with foods that nourish you and let the food speak for itself. Connection matters more than agreement. Your health is yours to protect.

They provide consistent, bioavailable organ nutrition when eating whole organs isn’t practical. Think of them as reliable daily support that helps you stay grounded, energised, and fully nourished.
