"I gave the carnivore diet a go. Here's what I found."
Hi Ben,
Recently our marketing guru decided to trial the meat-based diet. Here’s what he discovered:
I have long been a fan of diets such as the paleo or “caveman” diet that have helped me improve my health outcomes for years now. That said, I’m always looking for ways to get better, and the meat-based diet was one that had always intrigued me.
After a good discussion with a colleague of mine that had recently made the jump to carnivore, and of course plenty with Janet and Marti who live and breathe by it, I decided it was my next challenge.
For the next three weeks I endeavoured to eat “as carnivore as possible”, supported by Homegrown Primal’s KiwiBurn and Boost.
Here’s what I found:
I lost fat, quickly: Almost instantly in fact. I never would have considered myself “large”, although there was certainly weight to lose around my hips and face. The weight came off straight away, and is still off. I was shocked how much better I looked within just the first week. I also didn’t experience any bloating after meals, which was a common occurrence previously.
Improved mood and energy: Again, I never would have called myself a moody person, but I was pleasantly surprised by just how happy I was. I also didn’t seem to get tired through the day despite keeping my exercise up. This was especially highlighted when I, on the odd occasion, would have non-carnivore meals, and quickly find myself feeling lethargic and easily irritated.
It’s the easiest diet ever, and I didn’t feel hungry: It is so easy and so cheap to be a carnivore. I was full from relatively small portions, and didn’t find myself looking at the clock thinking how long until my next meal. Insulin sensitivity is a fascinating thing, and there is nothing like carnivore, in conjunction with intermittent fasting, for stabilising blood sugar levels.
Best of all? The meals also happen to be delicious.
Overall I have been blown away with how much better I look and feel in just three short weeks. Whilst there are things about it that are challenging, particularly finding a way to navigate social occasions where carb-heavy food is provided, I can’t see myself changing my mind on it any time soon.
My advice for those interested? Give it a go for a few weeks like I did.
You might be convinced within days.
